american cherry laurel trees, copper wire, plastic tarp, glass
2020

During some covid inspired backyard cleanup, I cut down three American Cherry Laurel trees and spent the next couple months observing the changes in them after they'd been cut down. I "planted" the trunks in an open field and played with the different materials of the trees and their various interactions with their surroundings to think through a whole series of concerns about place, justice, identity and process.

this was the rainwater catchment system for later leaf-dye watercolor drawings.
